Ipswich Town have reportedly been granted permission to discuss terms with Portsmouth winger Michael Jacobs.

The 29-year-old is well known to Town boss Paul Cook, with the pair having previously worked together at Wigan Athletic.

And according to Portsmouth News, a reunion could well be on the cards.

The report adds that Pompey have accepted Ipswich's approach for the former Derby County and Wolverhampton Wanderers player – and a move may well be finalised in the near future.

It is believed that while Portsmouth manager Danny Cowley is an admirer of Jacobs' talent, there are concerns over his recent injury record.

He made just 22 appearances for the Fratton Park-based outfit last term, 13 of which were starts.
