Transfer Talk: Ipswich Town set to battle Everton for loan signing of Aston Villa winger Jaden Philogene
Ipswich Town are reportedly ready to make another move to bring in Jaden Philogene.
The Tractor Boys agreed a deal to sign the winger from Hull City during the summer, only for the 22-yeaer-old to reject the switch and instead rejoin Aston Villa in a transfer thought to be worth in the region of £13m.
However, having started just two of Villa’s 19 Premier League games so far this season, it is believed that the England Under-21 international could head out on loan for the second half of the season.
And according to The Athletic, Ipswich have retained a strong interest in the attacker.
Boss Kieran McKenna bolstered his wide options during the summer transfer window with the additions of Omari Hutchinson, Jack Clarke and Chiedozie Ogbene, but the latter has since seen his season cut short by an Achilles injury that he suffered in October.
The report adds that Ipswich could face competition for Philogene’s services from fellow Premier League side Everton.
The Toffees, who also made a bid for the Hammersmith-born player in the summer, would need to either terminate or make permanent one of their two current domestic loans to make space for Philogene.
Jack Harrison (Leeds United) and Armando Broja (Chelsea) are both currently on loan at Goodison Park.
