Ipswich Town: Premier League side Everton reject £4m bid for ex-Sunderland striker Ellis Simms
Ipswich Town have had a Premier League side reject their £4m bid for a young striker.
The Tractor Boys have tabled the offer to sign Everton attacker Ellis Simms, who is a target for a number of clubs in this summer’s transfer window.
Toffees boss Sean Dyche would consider selling the 22-year-old this summer if they receive a suitable offer in order to boost his own transfer plans, reports the Football Insider, citing insider sources.
With Ipswich returning to the Championship for the 2023/24 campaign as well as the loss of loanee George Hirst to his parent club Leicester, there is a spot open for a new number nine to arrive at Portman Road.
Simms has had loan spells at Blackpool and Hearts and began last season at newly-promoted Sunderland before he was recalled for the second half of the Premier League campaign.
He started twice and featured nine times off the bench, including a vital late equaliser for Sean Dyche’s men who managed to survive relegation.
While at Sunderland, the 6ft 3 Oldham-born striker made 14 starts and three sub appearances at Sunderland scoring seven times in the Championship.
The Black Cats, as well as Middlesbrough and Stoke City, are all also interested in securing the forward’s signature this summer.
Simms is approaching the final year of his contract at Goodison Park.
