Ipswich Town agree fee with West Brom for left-back Conor Townsend
Ipswich Town have reportedly agreed a fee with West Brom to sign left-back Conor Townsend.
The 31-year-old joined the Baggies in 2018 from Scunthorpe United and has since made 213 appearances for The Hawthorns outfit.
SuffolkNews’ media partners TWTD stated that the Blues were in talks with the Sky Bet Championship side over signing the former Hull City defender, while John Percy has recently revealed that Town have agreed a fee of £750,000 for Townsend.
The Telegraph journalist also reported that a medical has been booked for today (Wednesday).
Town boss Kieran McKenna admitted after his side’s 2-1 defeat to Fortuna Düsseldorf on Saturday that the Blues need to make more signings ahead of the transfer window closing next month.
“We’re working really hard, we know we need to make a lot more additions to have a squad that’s strong enough to be competitive in Premier League games,” he said.
“We’re all working really, really hard on that and we’ve still got a few weeks before the season starts and a few more weeks before the window closes on top of that and I think we all know how imperative it is that we improve the squad further.”
Town have already made five signings so far this summer: Omari Hutchinson, Ben Johnson, Liam Delap, Jacob Greaves and Arijanet Muric.
McKenna’s side return to action with friendlies in Germany on Friday and Saturday against Borussia Monchengladbach and Hoffenheim respectively.
