Ipswich Town: Burnley striker Lyle Foster ‘close’ to move as Blues continue hunt for frontman

Ipswich Town are continuing their hunt for a striker as they close in on a 23-year-old frontman from Burnley.

The Blues are looking to add another striker to their squad before Friday’s 11pm transfer deadline and are in advanced talks with the Clarets for the loan signing of South African striker Lyle Foster.

According to Italian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, a season-long loan of Foster is being discussed in a deal which is claimed would include an obligation to buy for £25 million next summer, assuming Town stay up.

Foster joined Burnley for £11 million in 2023 and has scored six goals in 33 starts and 11 sub appearances.

The move comes after a loan offer for Chelsea’s Armando Broja came close to completion last week but it hit an obstacle when an achilles issue, which will keep the Albanian international sidelined for around seven weeks, became evident following his medical.

Town loanee Jens Cajuste has also been named in the Sweden squad for their Nations League games next month which includes a trip to Azerbaijan on September 5 and a home match against Estonia on September 8.

If he plays, Cajuste will become the first player to win a Sweden cap while with the Blues.

The 25-year-old midfielder, who is on loan from Napoli, has previously won 23 full caps.

The midfielder could make his Town debut in the Carabao Cup tie at AFC Wimbledon tonight.
