Ipswich Town have Sammie Szmodics bid rejected by Blackburn Rovers
Ipswich Town have reportedly had a bid rejected for Blackburn Rovers forward Sammie Szmodics.
It was first claimed by SuffolkNews’ media partner TWTD that the Blues were in talks with the 28-year-old, who topped the Sky Bet Championship scoring charts with 27 goals last term in a Rovers team that finished 19th in the table.
And TWTD, as well as Sky Sports News journalist Dharmesh Sheth, today stated that talks between Town and the former Peterborough player are progressing.
But The Lancashire Telegraph have reported that the Blues have had an offer for Szmodics rejected, claiming that the bid was ‘well below’ Blackburn’s estimation.
TWTD previously claimed that Rovers want £20m for the four-times-capped Ireland international, while the Blues reportedly proposed a fee of £6m.
Blackburn academy graduate Szmodics, who started his senior career at Colchester United before earning a move to Bristol City in 2019, has two years left on his current contract.
