Ipswich Town in ‘advanced talks’ with Arsenal over loan signing of Reiss Nelson
Ipswich Town are reportedly in ‘advanced talks’ with Arsenal over the potential loan signing of winger Reiss Nelson, according to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The news comes as the Gunners look set to welcome Chelsea wideman Raheem Sterling to north London.
The 24-year-old has made 90 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal, scoring eight goals and registering nine assists.
His five years at the Emirates Stadium have been broken up by two season-long loan spells at Hoffenheim (2018/19) and Feyenoord (2021/22). While in Germany, Nelson made 29 appearances and scored seven goals for Hoffenheim as they finished ninth in the Bundesliga.
Three campaigns later, the England Under-21 international contributed four goals and seven assists in the Eredivisie, helping Feyenoord to a third-placed finish.
Following his loan spells, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta utilised Nelson 26 times over the course of their back-to-back second-placed Premier League finishes in the last two seasons.
Nelson has also played in Europe 30 times – making 10 Champions League and Conference League appearances as well as featuring 20 times in the Europa League.
