Ipswich Town linked with move for former Huddersfield Town striker Steve Mounie following recent Ligue 1 departure
Ipswich Town are reportedly in discussions to sign Steve Mounie.
The striker is a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Brest, for whom he scored seven goals last season to help the club finish third in the Ligue 1 standings.
Prior to linking up with Brest, Mounie spent three campaigns with Huddersfield Town – two of which were in the Premier League. The 29-year-old, who cost the Terriers a club-record £11.5m following his arrival from Montpellier, found the back of the net on nine occasions in the top flight.
According to Africafoot, Ipswich are prepared to offer the Benin international a three-year deal at Portman Road – although they are said to face competition for his signature.
The report adds that Turkish side Konyaspor have expressed an interest in Mounie’s services, while Saudi Arabian outfit Al Ahli are also thought to be in the running.
As well as Mounie, Ipswich are also said to currently be in discussions to sign Hull City pair Jacob Greaves and Jaden Philogene in a joint deal potentially worth £35m.
