Ipswich Town face losing Christian Walton as Brighton & Hove Albion reportedly set to recall goalkeeper to sell on

Brighton are preparing to recall goalkeeper Christian Walton for his loan spell at Ipswich Town at the end of the month, according to a report.

The 26-year-old England Under-21 capped player made the switch to Suffolk at the end of August on a season-long loan to link up with his former Wigan boss Paul Cook.

But The Sun on Sunday is reporting Premier League Brighton are able to end that deal next month and would favour doing that to cash in on selling him a Championship club.

The former Plymouth Argyle youngster's contract at the Amex club is set to expire in the summer, at which point the Seagulls would face the prospect of losing him on a free transfer.

Walton was brought in after summer signing Vaclav Hladky experienced a shaky start to stepped up from League Two Salford City.

The 6ft 4in Brighton player has made 14 appearances for Town, keeping three clean sheets.

His loss would be a blow to the currently managerless Suffolk club, having shone in recent games, notably keeping the scoreline respectable in the 2-0 loss at Charlton on Tuesday.

But the Blues may be prepared to mount their own move for a permanent transfer for Walton who has only made six first-team outings for the Seagulls since joining in 2014.

In between he has also enjoyed successful loan spells at the likes of Blackburn Rovers and Wigan Athletic.
