Transfer Talk: Ipswich Town close in on loan signing of Como striker Ivan Azon after move fell through earlier this month
Ipswich Town have reportedly revived their interest in Ivan Azon – and the Spanish striker is now expected to complete a loan move to Portman Road.
Earlier this month the 22-year-old, who is currently on the books of Serie A outfit Como, travelled to Suffolk for a medical ahead of a switch to the Tractor Boys.
However, the deal subsequently fell through, with Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna saying: “The deal hasn’t progressed. So I won’t say anything other than that, really, out of respect to all parties. He’s not a player we expect to join the club in this window.”
Azon has since been linked with Spanish side Getafe, but according to widespread reports this evening, he is now heading back to England to complete the formalities of season-long move to Ipswich.
Prior to joining Como during the January transfer window, Azon rose through the ranks at his hometown club Real Zaragoza, for whom he scored 27 goals in 150 appearances.
