Ipswich Town reportedly eyeing move for goalkeeper Luke Southwood after Reading departure




Ipswich Town have been linked with a move for out-of-contract Reading goalkeeper Luke Southwood.

The 25-year-old, who has been capped once at senior international level by Northern Ireland, spent the previous campaign on loan at Cheltenham Town and he was an ever present as they finished 16th in Sky Bet League One.

It is believed that the Robins were keen to retain Southwood’s services on a permanent basis going forward, but according to Gloucestershire Live, they could now face competition from the Tractor Boys.

Ipswich are likely to be in the market for a goalkeeper with current number two Vaclav Hladky expected to move on this summer in search of more regular first-team football.

And in Southwood they would be getting a shot stopper with 26 Championship appearances under his belt, as well as experience of the Scottish Premiership during his time on loan at Hamilton Academical.
