Ipswich Town: Liam Delap and Aro Muric shortlisted for Premier League Goal of the Month and Save of the Month August awards
Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap and Aro Muric have been shortlisted for the Premier League’s Goal of the Month and Save of the Month awards for August.
Delap, who joined the Suffolk club this summer in a reported £15 million up front deal from champions Manchester City, opened his goal account for Kieran McKenna’s side in stunning style against Fulham at Portman Road on Saturday.
The 21-year-old, the son of former Stoke City long-throw specialist Rory Delap, picked up Leif Davis’ pass deep inside the Cottages’ half before embarking on a driving run before unleashing a thunderbolt of a shot across goal from around 25 yards out.
The 15th-minute strike was Town’s first Premier League goal in 22 years at Portman Road as the Blues took an early lead against Fulham in what turned out to be a 1-1 draw.
Delap, who is currently away with the England Under-21s, is up for the award along with seven others for the Goal of the Month away, sponsored by Guinness, which will be decided by supporters’ votes.
Fans can vote for their favourite by clicking here until 12pm on Monday (September 9).
Meanwhile, Town goalkeeper Muric, who joined from Burnley for a reported £8 million fee, is also in line for an award for his super stop to deny Erling Haaland in the second half of the 4-1 defeat at four-in-a-row champions Manchester City the Saturday before last (August 24).
The save is one of six nominated for the Premier League’s Save of the Month August award, which again, supporters can choose their favourite from by clicking here.
Voting for that one also closes on Monday winners set to be announced next Friday (September 13).
