Ipswich Town striker Tyreece John-Jules edging closer to a full return

Tyreece John-Jules has returned to Ipswich Town to step up his recovery after picking up a hamstring injury towards the end of last year.

The 22-year-old went back to his parent club Arsenal for rehab following the injury which he suffered in the crazy 4-4 draw with Charlton Athletic at the end of October.

John-Jules had just been finding his feet in the weeks before that, and is now set to make a big difference as Ipswich begin their run-in towards the end of the season.

"Tyreece is back with us, so that's been good," said manager Kieran McKenna.

"As I've said before, he's a really popular player around the training ground, so everyone has been happy to see him and have him back. He's working on the grass, so hopefully will be training with the group in a couple of weeks."

When asked when the Arsenal loanee could be back out on the pitch, McKenna added: "Look, he's had fairly major surgery on his hamstring so you never like to put exact deadlines on it.

"It's step by step at the moment. He is working with the fitness coaches on the grass, but the first step has to be getting back training with the squad. From there we will make assessments on when will be the right time to re-introduce him to the team."

George Edmundson also returned to full training this week after missing the last two games.
