Ipswich boxer Fabio Wardley overcomes Eric Molina in Gibraltar to maintain unbeaten record
Ipswich's Fabio Wardley took a sizeable step up on Saturday night with a fifth-round stoppage of Eric Molina.
The unbeaten 26-year-old dominated large parts of the fight in Gibraltar, which was part of the undercard for the much anticipated Povetkin vs Whyte 2 clash.
And while it appeared that Molina, who has previously fought Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder for world titles, was warming to the task as the bout progressed, Wardley ended proceedings with a string of counter punches.
“If you want to go toe-to-toe – that’s what happens to you,” said Wardley, who was once part of the Ipswich Town FC academy.
“I’m by no means the finished article, I’ve got a lot to learn.”
