Ipswich Town defender Luke Woolfenden scores wonder-goal in pre-season training

In 90 senior Ipswich Town appearances, Luke Woolfenden has found the back of the net on just two occasions.

However, the defender showed during today's pre-season training session at Loughborough that he certainly has a taste for the spectacular.

Having been teed up for a volley on the edge of the box, the 23-year-old unleashed a sweetly struck right footed volley that arced perfectly over a number of defenders and a goalkeeper on its way in.

Holding one arm aloft in celebration, it was a goal that made a big impression on his team-mates and the coaching staff, many of whom can be heard voicing their disbelief.

The homegrown centre-back is likely to be focused more on defending rather than scoring goals when Ipswich turn out for their next pre-season friendly at home against Premier League side West Ham United on Tuesday night (7pm).
