Ipswich Town to give youngsters a chance at Crawley Town
Ipswich Town are set to hand a number of their young players some more first-team exposure during tonight's Papa John's Trophy tie at Crawley Town (7pm).
Ipswich have once again used the competition to blood some of their academy starlets, with Elkan Baggott, Zanda Siziba, Allan Viral and former AFC Sudbury and Bury Town teenager Ross Crane all making their debuts in the 2-0 win over Gillingham last month.
Assistant manager Stuart Taylor told the club's website: "It’s a good competition for the younger ones to go and play in. It’s a great opportunity for them to go and get some experience of playing in the first team.
"There were a few lads (from the game) against Portsmouth who will need games as well. We’ll have to see how they’ve come through as it was a tough game and hard-fought. It’s a case of seeing how they recover.
"They’re (Crawley) going very well in League Two. They’ve scored plenty of goals in the last few games. They’re an attacking side who like to get forward. We’ve got a certain way that we want to go and play so it’ll be a good game I’m sure."
Victory for Ipswich would seem them progress from Southern Group B into the knockout stages.
The game will be available to watch on iFollow Ipswich for £10 – to purchase, click here.
