Mr Plant Geek visits Kiln Farm Nursery




Kiln Farm Nursery in Kesgrave received a special visitor this week as part of an initiative to get young people into gardening.

The regular face of ITV's This Morning and QVC UK Michael Perry a.k.a Mr Plant Geek stopped by the family business to speak to their young apprentice Josh Simmonds, about his passion for plants.

At 19-years-old Josh was on track for a sporting future but chose a different career path swapping football for flowers.

Josh called the plant specialist business and after a formal interview, was offered an apprenticeship in his new found career last year.

Ruth Goudy, co-owner of the business, said:"We are very proud of Josh he's a very intelligent young man."

In regards to the podcast Josh said he was 'nervous but excited' to be featured in one of the episodes.

Michael is known not only for his TV appearances, but he has been crowned influencer of the year previously by the Garden Media Guild.

Whilst Michael spent a lot of his youth hiding his gardening enthusiasm Josh said this was never something he'd been embarrassed about.

Kiln Farm Nursery was established in 2002 by Ruth and Paul Goudy but Ruth's family have been farming in Kesgrave since 1932.
