Kesgrave Parkrun to celebrate 10th anniversary in style
Attendees will be given the chance to celebrate in style when Kesgrave’s Parkrun celebrates a major milestone this weekend.
Jen Evans, who introduced the 5k course to the town in 2014, said her team of volunteers have a wealth of surprises for its 10th anniversary on Saturday.
These include bowling, cricket, cycling, dance, tennis and yoga.
Cakes and refreshments will also be sold to raise funds for the Jess Grant Celebration.
Jen said Parkrun would not have been possible without her team, as well as East Suffolk Council and Kesgrave Town Council, who still continue to support the event.
“It’s our volunteers that make this event happen every week and we couldn’t do it without them,” she said.
“In order to make this a real celebration, we want to recognise that parkrun isn’t the only activity to do in Kesgrave and that there is lots to do no matter how old you are.
“We have many activities coming along, so come and have a go.”
Since its foundation, Kesgrave Parkrun has welcomed more than 121,000 runners and 1,500 volunteers, Jen said.
“Our fastest course is around 15 minutes, but its very rare to get someone that quick,” she said.
“We usually average around 30 minutes but regularly get walkers who take a full hour.”
Parkrun meets every Saturday at Millennium Jubilee Hall.
The run will take place as normal at 9am. The revelry will run for 10am to noon.
It is free to attend.
