Firefighters from Mildenhall, Brandon, Newmarket and Haverhill tackle bungalow blaze in Lakenheath




Firefighters extinguished an early hours blaze at a bungalow in a village.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 12.48am to a fire at the property in Sandgalls Drive, Lakenheath.

The blaze was in the roof of the bungalow and two teams, wearing breathing equipment, used two hose reel jets as well as a larger covering jet to tackle the fire.

All persons in the property were accounted for and there were no casualties.

The fire was extinguished at about 3.40am and an investigation is due to take place today to establish a cause.

Four fire engines attended from Mildenhall, Brandon, Newmarket and Haverhill.

The Operational Support Unit, a water carrier and the emergency rescue tender also attended.
