Cllr Nick Smith, vice chairman of Lakenheath Parish Council, said: “It’s been a long old haul and it’s taken a great deal of effort to achieve this.

“The feedback that we’ve got from the parishioners and residents has been great and they can’t believe it.

“It’s hugely positive news for the village and it will definitely give it a bit of a boost.

“It shows Lakenheath is still an attractive place to be and I know the people here will take full advantage of it so let’s support it as much as we can.”

Cllr Smith added that Lakenheath Parish Council worked with Post Office Ltd and Lakenheath News, as well as West Suffolk Council, to get the Post Office sorted.

Mrs Anantharajah will be the postmistress of the Post Office.
