Lakenheath Library to change opening hours this week

A library in Suffolk is changing its opening hours this week.

Lakenheath Library will change its opening hours on Friday, February 17 after they said the changes will benefit local people by providing longer opening hours on busier days to meet local demand.

The library is set to close earlier on Friday evenings as the library has been quieter, but will be open for the same number of hours as before during the week.

The changes are also enabling Suffolk Libraries to launch a new weekly wordplay session for pre-school children to enjoy songs and nursery rhymes, which will take place every Friday at 9.30am from February 17 onwards.

The new changes follow a consultation last year which invited library users to share their thoughts on the proposed changes.

Starting Friday, 17 February, the new hours are as follows:

Monday: Closed (no change)

Tuesday: 10am to 2pm (no change)

Wednesday: 2pm to 5pm (no change)

Thursday: 12pm to 5pm (no change)

Friday: 9am to 2pm (previously 2pm to 7pm)

Saturday: 9am to 12am (previously 10am to 1pm)

Sunday: 10am to 3pm (no change).

Books and other items can still be returned through the letterbox when the library is closed.
