West Suffolk Council planners approve bid to turn Lakenheath home into care facility

Planners at a council have approved a bid to turn a village home into a care facility.

Ms Bucknell submitted a bid to West Suffolk Council to turn a home in Wings Road, Lakenheath, into a respite care facility alongside an extension to the back of the existing building

The new care facility would provide temporary respite care for up to five residents, who would stay for short periods of time of up to seven consecutive nights.

A maximum of three permanent staff members would work at the site on rotating shifts with the potential for external staff such as occupational therapists and district nurses depending on the person's needs.

A statement submitted on behalf of Ms Bucknell said external staff would likely be a 'rare occasion' and during sociable hours.

Lekenheath Parish Council, which originally opposed the plans, has submitted a representation in support.

Planners have given Ms Bucknell the go-ahead.
