The money will help fund its pitch maintenance and youth teams as well as pay for new kit.

Ms. Lock said: “We are grateful for this donation, it will go a long way in supporting the club and providing facilities for all of our players, from youth teams to the first team.

“We are a close-knit community here in Lakenheath and the club is an important hub for the village.”

Persimmon Suffolk has recently been granted planning permission to build 139 homes west of Eriswell Road in the village.

Ian Hamilton, Managing Director at Persimmon Suffolk, said: “We are always keen to support clubs like Lakenheath FC which play such an important role in bringing communities together and we are delighted to hear the donation will make a difference to the whole club.

“At Persimmon Homes we build more than just houses, we want to support communities and create a lasting legacy within those areas where we are building.”
