Lights, fireworks, action at Haverhill Family Christmas Night

Haverhill Town Council’s Christmas Family Night takes place on Friday from 5pm to 8pm.

It includes late night shopping, stalls and rides in the town centre, and a craft fair in the arts centre.

Street entertainers, such as Anton the Juggler and the Swervy World band will be dotted around the town centre and the traders in Queen’s Square are opening a Santa’s Grotto and providing live music, photos, hot festive drinks and snacks.

In the Burton Centre, St Nicholas Hospice Care has arranged a giant snow globe and a rodeo reindeer.

The Christmas Lights Switch-On will be conducted on the Market Square at 6.30pm by Janey Lee Grace, presenter on the Steve Wright in te Afternoon Show on BBC Radio 2.

She will appear dressed as the Fairy Godmother, the part she plays in Cinderella at the arts centre. She will be assisted, or not, by the Ugly Sisters.

The grand finale of the night will be the annual spectacular fireworks display at the Recreation Ground at 8pm.

The next day, from 11am onwards there will be Electric Hamster racing in the town centre and more street entertainment.

High Street, closed from 1pm – 11pm; Queen Street, closed from 10am – 11pm; Swan Lane, closed from 1pm – 11pm; Peas Hill, closed from 1pm – 11pm; Camps Road, closed from 7pm – 9pm; Chauntry Road, closed from 7pm – 9pm; Mill Road, closed from 7pm – 9pm; Recreation Road, closed from 7pm – 9pm.
