Crews called to unattended campfire in Dunwich Forest near Southwold




Crews have been called to an unattended campfire in the forest at Dunwich, near Southwold, this afternoon.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service sent four crews from Aldeburgh, Leiston and Southwold, to the scene of the blaze close to the car parks, which was reported at 2.43pm.

A spokeswoman for the service said the fire was under control by about 3.30pm, when crews were able to start leaving the scene.

She said the service had sent four crews as there had been concerns about the smoke, and because the fire had been left unattended.

At 3.45pm, she said just one team was still on the scene tackling the flames but the area had been made safe and the fire had not spread.
