Cyclist taken to hospital with internal injuries after hit-and-run on A12 in Kessingland




A cyclist was taken to hospital after being struck by a van which failed to stop.

The incident was at about 6.35am on the southbound carriageway of the A12, in Kessingland, today.

A man in his 50s was hit from behind by a white van, causing him to fall to the ground and the offending vehicle’s wing mirror to break off.

The driver of the van did not stop at the scene.

The cyclists suffered internal injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening, and was taken to James Paget Hospital, in Great Yarmouth, for treatment.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have dash cam footage of a white van missing a wing mirror.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact Roads and Armed Policing Team at police headquarters in Martlesham, quoting CAD 28 of May 14.
