Drink-driver Kurtis Galyer banned from road for nearly two years after crashing car into property in Carlton Colville
A man has been banned from driving for nearly two years after crashing his car into a property in Carlton Colville near Lowestoft while almost twice over the drink-drive limit.
The driver, Kurtis Galyer, 26, of Sheraton Drive, Grimsby, appeared before Great Yarmouth Magistrates’ Court on February 9 where he pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle when above the prescribed alcohol limit.
He was banned from driving for 20 months, which could be reduced to 20 weeks on completion of a drink-drive rehabilitation course.
It follows an earlier incident on August 10 last year when police were called shortly before 11.50pm after reports of a single vehicle crash in Wharfedale, where a silver BMW left the road and collided with a property.
Galyer initially fled the scene but was found by officers in a nearby street where he failed a roadside breath test.
He was taken to the James Paget Hospital with serious injuries.
Police later obtained a blood sample for analysis which had a result of 159milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood – the legal limit is 80 milligrams.
Galyer was was subsequently charged on January 17 with driving a motor vehicle when above the prescribed alcohol limit.
As well as his driving ban, Galyer was also fined £150 and ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £105 in costs.
