Drivers urged to consider whether they need to travel as Halesworth Police say 'large number' of crashes have been reported due to weather conditions
Police have urged drivers in Suffolk to consider whether they need to travel after a 'large number' of crashes were reported on the roads this morning.
Halesworth officers posted on Twitter this morning saying the weather conditions had contributed to the collisions.
It comes after people across the country experienced bitterly cold conditions over the last few days, with minimum temperatures of just above freezing at 1°C or 2°C and icy conditions forecast in most parts of the county today.
Police advised those who do need to travel to allow enough time to do so safely.
According to the Suffolk Fire and Rescue incident log, emergency services have been called to a crash at Mendlesham Green in Mendlesham, which was reported at about 8.15am.
And the AA traffic planner showed the A12 was partially blocked with slow traffic after an accident northbound at junction 23B London Road at Belstead/Copdock village towards Ipswich at about 8.30am, but it looks like it has since cleared.
The fire incident log also shows there were collisions in Lowestoft, Oulton Broad and Rattlesden late last night.
