Hughes Electrical moves to new home at North Quay Retail Park in Lowestoft

An electronics retailer has its eyes on the future as it moves into its new home in Lowestoft – the town where it got its start more than a century ago.

Hughes Electrical opened its doors at North Quay Retail Park on Saturday, completing the move from its London Road North outlet, where it was based since 1965.

The new store saw the creation of four new jobs, while six staff were transferred from the old premises.

Robert Hughes, the firm’s chairman, said: “Hughes has been in business for over 100 years and we continue to look to the future as we open our new store in Lowestoft.

“The very first Hughes store opened just down the road from here in 1921 and we are pleased to reaffirm our commitment to the town with our new store on North Quay Retail Park.

“Steve and the entire Hughes team have done a fantastic job in getting the store ready, especially as it is the first to feature a new look and feel for our brand, and the new Hughes logo too.

“This is a bigger store in a great location which will enable us to showcase a wider range of products and provide an even better shopping experience for our customers.”

Hughes is offering 10 per cent off purchases at the new store until June 21, plus a free prize draw to win £4,000 worth of electrical goods.
