Firefighters rescue stranded boat carrying children and adults after power loss south of Somerleyton Marina, near Lowestoft
A boat carrying children and adults was rescued after it lost power and became stranded.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service was alerted by HM Coastguard at 4.27pm yesterday of a boat in trouble on the River Waveney, just south of Somerleyton Marina, near Lowestoft.
The 24-foot vessel, with four children and five adults on board, lost power.
The passengers dropped a mud rake to stop the boat from drifting, but without power, the boat became stranded.
Firefighters from Lowestoft towed the boat back to the marina.
There were no casualties.
The incident was declared closed at 8pm.
