Lowestoft’s HSBC branch, in London Road North, to close for a month for refurbishment

A HSBC branch in a coastal town is to close for a month for refurbishment.

The bank in London Road North, Lowestoft, will shut at 2pm on Friday.

The refresh will include internal building work, painting, new signage and new ‘state-of-the-art’ cash machines.

It is expected to reopen on Thursday, June 6.

George Hemstock, HSBC UK’s local director, said: “We continue to invest in our branch network to make our customers’ experience banking with us a good one.

“We have been talking to customers about the temporary closure for the last month, and while we are having the work done people can continue to use their nearest Post Office for day to day transactions, plus mobile and online banking is available 24/7 in addition to being able to call our contact centre.”

HSBC will be hosting pop up community events at the town’s library, in Clapham Road South, to support customers.

These will run between 10am and 3pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays from May 7 until May 30.

Customers are also directed to other nearby branches, with the Great Yarmouth bank being closest to the town while its Saxmundham branch is the closest with a counter service.
