15 Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service vehicles attend blaze on board vessel at Lowestoft dock




Firefighters were called to a blaze on board a 45-tonne vessel which pulled into a Lowestoft dock.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 5.54pm and 15 vehicles attended.

A spokeswoman said there was a fire in the engine room of the vessel, which measured 22 metres and weighed 45 tonnes.

Six people were on board but all were 'safe and well'.

The vessel was at Hamilton Dock and the incident was dealt with by 8.52pm.

The spokeswoman added that the fire was contained on board and crews were not needed to extinguish it.
