Armed police officers put down injured deer after it was trapped in railings in Cowslip Crescent, Lowestoft
Armed police officers put down an injured deer after it became caught in railings in the early hours.
Suffolk Police received a call from a member of the public at 6.15am today, who reported a small deer was caught in railings near a footpath in Cowslip Crescent, Lowestoft.
Officers then alerted firefighters to the scene to free the animal, which had a fractured leg.
It was also bleeding and in distress.
However, as the incident was so early in the morning and no other agencies were on hand, officers took the decision to euthanise the deer.
This was done in a more secluded area.
