Blaze at Lowestoft workshop in Queens Highway sees man treated for burns and smoke inhalation




A man has been treated for smoke inhalation and burns after a fire broke out at a Lowestoft workshop.

Three fire crews, two from Lowestoft South and one from North Lowestoft, were called to the scene in Queens Highway, near Camps Heath, in the town at around 10.40am today.

A Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said crews battled the blaze at the site, which had been evacuated prior to their arrival, for more than an hour.

He added: "The workshop fire, which measured roughly six by twenty metres, was extinguished by the attending crews who proceeded to dampen down the area and tackle any hotspots."

Nearby residents reported having heard 'explosions', before black plumes of smoke were seen coming from the area.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said man 'was assessed at the scene' but 'did not require transportation to hospital'.

Suffolk Police also attended to assist with traffic management.
