Suffolk Police say searches are continuing for man missing from boat that sunk in River Waveney

Searches are continuing for a man who has been missing since a boat sunk in the River Waveney near North Cove earlier this week.

Suffolk Police were called by Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service at 10.10pm on Monday to reports that a boat containing five people was sinking in the River Waveney between North Cove and Barnby, in Suffolk.

Four of the people managed to escape from the water, but one man, aged in his 30s, was unaccounted for.

Suffolk Police, along with a number of other agencies, supported a search of the river which was led by HM Coastguard, who completed their searches yesterday afternoon with the missing person not located.

Police officers are continuing with a number of enquiries in respect of the missing man and further searches of the river are being undertaken today by the Norfolk Police Marine Team.

Suffolk Police are also consulting with other policing partners over specialist assistance they may be able to provide to the search.
