Greater Anglia services between Lowestoft and Reedham cancelled due to fault at bridge
Trains have been cancelled due to a fault at a bridge which has left lines blocked.
Greater Anglia services have been disrupted this morning after a fault at a river swing bridge between Lowestoft and Reedham, resulting in the cancellation of services between Ipswich and Lowestoft, via Saxmundham and Beccles.
Network Rail engineers are on site to resolve the issues, but further disruption is anticipated as trains will have to run at a reduced speed on all lines.
A river swing bridge is a type of movable bridge that rotates to allow trains to cross while also permitting boats and ships to pass underneath.
A Rail Replacement Bus service is operating between Lowestoft and Norwich, but it is only able to serve the stations at Lowestoft, Oulton Broad North and Norwich.
Passengers affected by the delays and cancellations are encouraged to claim compensation through the Delay Repay scheme by clicking here.
Greater Anglia tickets are also being accepted on the following bus routes:
X1 - Running between Norwich, Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft
X2 - Running between Lowestoft, Beccles and Norwich
