Grove Primary School in Carlton Colville and Westwood Primary in Lowestoft closed due to positive coronavirus case

Two primary schools in and around Lowestoft are closed today after a staff member tested positive for coronavirus.

Rae Aldous, headteacher at both Grove Primary School, in Framfield Road, Carlton Colville, and Westwood Primary School, in Lowestoft's Westwood Avenue, sent an email to parents this morning informing them of the closure.

She said: "We have had a member of staff test positive for Covid-19 causing several other members of staff to have to self-isolate.

"During today we will be reorganising staffing so that we can open safely in line with current guidance. There will also be a deep clean of the school."

Mrs Aldous also confirmed that the Department for Education and Public Health England had been notified.

She added: "Please be reassured that the affected member of staff has had no contact with pupils that should cause concern."
