"Luckily the brick did not make contact with the female and the group made off very quickly," said a spokesperson for Lowestoft Police.

Police are keen to trace the group who are all described as being male, around 15-16 years old and were all wearing black tracksuits and black puffa type jackets.

One of the males had blonde hair and one had brown/dark hair.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to a similar incident, which took place in Station Square.

Three youths, all male, made homophobic comments to a woman before fleeing the scene.
