Mildenhall High Street shop Rusty Trunk Antiques to feature on BBC One TV show Antiques Road Trip
A family-run antiques shop in a Suffolk town is set to feature on the popular BBC One TV series Antiques Road Trip next week.
Lisa Carter, 51, has been the owner of Rusty Trunk Antiques in Mildenhall High Street since April 2021.
Last year to Lisa’s surprise, she was asked to participate in the show, which is now on its 30th season.
The series was filmed in September 2024 and will be aired on Monday, with the episode on Rusty Trunk Antiques to drop on Thursday next week.
“I was originally quite nervous as I don’t really even like my picture being taken, let alone being on BBC TV,” Lisa said.
“All the film crew managed to thankfully get inside my small shop and although it went really quick, they were actually in the store for like four hours.
“It was a bit nerve-racking to be honest but I did enjoy it, especially as it’s been a little bit of a struggle recently for the business in the town, so it was a nice surprise.”
Lisa added: “I got really worried for the shop in October time as business was really quiet.
“We are right opposite the Market Place yet so many people have no idea we’re here.”
The collector’s items fanatic, who formerly sold antiques from a barn in Lakenheath as a hobby, has thanked her children Robbie, Alfie and Sophie, for supporting her with the business over the last few years.
Antiques Road Trip was first shown on BBC Two from 2010 to 2012 and has aired on BBC One since 2013.
The show involves antiques experts setting off on a road trip around the UK searching for treasures and competing to make the most money at auction.
It is hosted by experts Phil Serrell and Natasha Raskin Sharp.
