Family fun day at Douglas Park in Mildenhall proves resounding success after over £2,000 raised for UK Youth charity




A family fun day at a popular park in a Suffolk town proved a resounding success after it raised more than £2,000.

More than 300 people turned up to the community event at Douglas Park in Mildenhall on Sunday with the total amount of £2305.62 split between charity UK Youth and local basketball team Mildenhall Jets following the club’s impressive debut season.

Some of the activities on the day featured rock climbing and face painting to bouncy castles and a K.A.T.S dance performance.

A basketball tournament at Douglas Park also played out with a special raffle including prizes such as a Formula 1 hat signed by Lando Norris, London Lions tickets and lots more.

Kerry Lloyd, 47, who lives in Mildenhall, is an ambassador for UK Youth and was overwhelmed by how the event turned out.

“To be honest the day was amazing and overwhelming and it was great to see how many came and how much support we got,” she said.

“The basketball was brilliant and the dance school did so well along with all the staff and of course DJ Chris.

“District councillors Ian Shipp and Andy Neal also said what an amazing day it was and asked if we can do it again next year which was great to hear.”

UK Youth aims to provide all young people with access to appropriate, high quality services in their local community.
