Completion of kitchen refurbishment at The Guinness Arms in Icklingham, near Mildenhall and Bury St Edmunds, marks ‘exciting new chapter’ for pub
The completion of a major kitchen refurbishment has marked an ‘exciting new chapter’ for a popular village pub.
The kitchen at The Guinness Arms in Icklingham, near Mildenhall and Bury St Edmunds, closed on May 6 for renovation before reopening at the end of the month.
While the kitchen was shut, a local street food truck would provide food at the pub for visitors, while the bar remained open as usual.
A key feature of the refurbishment has been the installation of a state-of-the-art electric cooking island, which significantly enhances energy efficiency and reduces the pub’s environmental impact.
The business has also invested in solar panels to power much of its daily operations with renewable energy.
A spokesperson for the Guinness Arms, which is part of the Elveden Estate, said: “We are delighted to announce the completion of our major kitchen refurbishment.
“This project reflects our continued commitment to delivering exceptional hospitality while investing in a more sustainable future for both our business and the wider community.
“We are proud to make investments that not only strengthen our offering but also reflect the core values of the Elveden Estate. Environmental responsibility and conservation are at the heart of everything we do and these upgrades are a testament to that ethos.
The spokesperson added: “This refurbishment marks an exciting new chapter for The Guinness Arms - one that blends tradition with innovation and reinforces our role as a responsible, community-focused establishment in the heart of Icklingham.
“We look forward to continuing to showcase the quality homegrown and locally sourced produce the estate proudly offers.”
The pub’s head chef, Sunny, who is originally from Hong King, has lived in England for 24 years and said he will be utilising his Asian heritage to create modern yet recognisable British dining.
