Charity Zumbathon in Mildenhall aims to raise £1,000 for charities Bliss and Mind

A charity Zumbathon in a Suffolk town is aiming to raise £1,000 for two charities.

Zumba instructor Kirsty Creasy, 30, is running the fitness event at the Jubilee Centre in Mildenhall on Saturday, from 2pm to 5pm, hoping to raise funds for Bliss and Mind.

Kirsty, who lives in Lakenheath, previously held a Zumbathon in November to raise money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance service.

She said: “We chose Bliss as one of my lovely fitness students had her son at 25 weeks pregnant and Bliss provided amazing support to her family while she was in hospital for nearly five months.

“Her son has now celebrated his second birthday and is thriving which is so good to see.

“Mind is another charity close to our hearts as they provide mental health support to those in need and is an incredible charity with what they do, so it’s nice being able to give back to them.”

Ahead of the Zumbathon, the GoFundMe has raised almost £300, needing another £700 to reach its target.

Kirsty and six other instructors will lead the two-hour fitness session and will be followed by a raffle and snacks.

“I am excited for everyone to come together on the floor to raise funds for these two great charities,” said Kirsty.

“We are hoping to have a great turnout and anyone is welcome to join us on the day regardless of your fitness level.

“I absolutely love that Zumba creates a party-like atmosphere making it a fun way to keep fit and make friends in a no judgement zone.”
