Consultation launches on plans to expand Mildenhall College Academy, in Sheldrick Way

A consultation has been launched on plans to expand a Suffolk academy.

Suffolk County Council is now inviting views from the public on its plans to build seven new classrooms, offices, and additional dining space at Mildenhall College Academy, in Sheldrick Way.

If carried forward, the expansion is due to open in January 2026, replacing the modular units currently in place at the site.

Pupil numbers will not be increasing as a result of the work.

Cllr Andrew Reid, the council’s lead for education and SEND said the extension would make a ‘significant difference’ to pupils and staff.

He added: “I’d encourage those in the community to view the plans and, if you’d like, submit your comments.”

Draft plans will be on show at the entrance to Mildenhall Hub and the consultation will last for two weeks, until September 30.

Comments can be made via the council’s website or by emailing schools@suffolk.gov.uk.
