Mildenhall couple angry after garden floods with sewage for second time

A couple whose garden was swamped with sewage after thunder showers were once more worried to leave their house when a damaged sewage pipe brought dirty water flooding back.

Alison and Kevin Holmes, of Brandon Road, Mildenhall , holidayed in Scotland to escape the stench – but found further ‘raw sewage’ upon their return – which Anglian Water needed to pump out.

“It is concerning,” Alison added. "I am angry at the situation."

Anglian Water said the pipe damage was a ‘completely separate’ incident, with the earlier build-up the result of unflushable items causing blockage.

A spokesperson added on Tuesday: “We were contacted by a customer following sewage appearing in their garden. We investigated the issue and identified that the sewer pipe was damaged and we are currently repairing it.”
