Mildenhall Woods searched by detectives after women's clothes found in the undergrowth

Detectives combed through woodland near Mildenhall at the weekend after items of women's clothing were found in the undergrowth.

Suffolk Police investigated the area of the woodland, which is just off Brandon Road, on Sunday after a walker called emergency services after discovering unusual looking clothing left abandoned.

Detectives sealed off the scene and searched the wider area 'as a precaution', but couldn't find anything further during their investigation of the woodland.

A police spokesman told Suffolk News today: "The clothing appears to be old due to its weathered appearance and whilst there is no direct link to any criminal offences or specific investigations, detectives wanted to further satisfy themselves of this by undertaking a wider search of the area as a precaution."

Officers have recovered the clothing, but have said now the search is complete there will be no further police activity in the area.
