Mildenhall woman disqualified from driving for 18 months after collision with garden fence and wall




A drink-driver has been disqualified for 18 months following a collision with a garden fence and wall in a town.

Nicola Charalambous, 51, of Folly Road, Mildenhall, appeared at Suffolk Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

She was found guilty of drink-driving and driving without due care and attention, following an incident off Folly Road at about 6.30pm on May 19, 2024.

Police were called to reports of a crash involving a Volkswagen Polo car which had collided with a garden fence and wall.

The driver, Charalambous, failed a roadside breath test and was found to have 80 micrograms per 100ml of breath, with the legal limit at 35 micrograms.

She was arrested and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre where she failed a further breath test providing a sample of 73 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath.

Charalambous has been disqualified from driving for 18 months, which could be reduced by 18 weeks on completion of a Government approved course.

She was also fined £180 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £144, plus £650 in costs.
