Mildenhall Emmanuel Close could see eight new affordable rented homes built in new plans to develop vacant garages
A Mildenhall street could see eight new affordable rented homes built as plans to develop empty garages have been submitted.
Applicant Flagship Housing Group Ltd, who already own and manage a number of garage sites in the town, as well as more than 5,000 properties most of which are in Suffolk, submitted the proposals for Emmanuel Close to West Suffolk Council at the end of February.
The eight new homes, which would be built across four separate garage block sites in the oval-shaped close, would be 100 per cent affordable and plans also include a further 72 parking spaces for the area.
Three two bed homes are proposed for the garage block furthest north on the site, one two bed and one three bed home are planned for the garage block 150m north and three two bed dwellings are proposed for the block next to the College Heath junction.
The site, which is around 2,696 square metres, is located to the west of the A11 and is around 15 miles south west of Thetford, and between Thetford and Newmarket.
Seventy garages are situated in the close. Of these, 18 are currently leased, 15 to people local to the area.
