GCSE results: Year 11 students at Mildenhall College Academy applauded for their hard work, resilience and ‘pleasing’ set of results
Year 11 students at Mildenhall College Academy have been applauded for their hard work, resilience and ‘pleasing’ set of GCSE results.
The academy, in Sheldrick Way, saw more than half of its students achieve a grade 4 or above in both English and maths, with 70 per cent scoring a grade 4 or above in English and 62 per cent receiving the same benchmark in maths.
A total of 20 per cent of pupils also attained top GCSE grades from 7 to 9.
One of the top performing students was Alexander Basil who accomplished grade 9s in biology, computer science, maths and further maths, grade 8s in English language and physics, as well as a grade 7 in chemistry and grade 6s in English literature and geography.
Azia Glover received a brilliant set of results which featured grade 9s in English language, English literature and history, and grade 8s in chemistry and maths.
Elise Rossall additionally secured high-level results including a grade 9 in English language, grade 8s in English literature and psychology, and grade 7s in biology and chemistry.
James Oxley, principal at the academy, said: “I am so proud of our Year 11 students for their hard work, resilience, and success following a pleasing set of GCSE and BTEC results.
“Among this year’s results, a number of students achieved the highest possible grade – grade 9 – a testament to their dedication and academic excellence.
“Equally inspiring are those students who have overcome significant personal challenges and adversity to secure strong grades, reflecting the resilience that defines our school community.”
Mr Oxley added: “English results have seen a marked improvement, which is a positive step forward and reflects the focused effort of both students and staff.
“These results are the culmination of years of hard work, commitment, and support.
“Success like this doesn’t happen in isolation. It’s a team effort.”
The principal also thanked parents and carers for the support and wished students all the best in their future endeavours.
Garry Trott, Director of Secondary Education, said: “It was wonderful being at Mildenhall today and soaking in the atmosphere of joy and celebration shared by pupils and their parents/carers.
“I offer my heartfelt congratulations to those pupils and thank all of the college staff who have worked to support these pupils over their five-year journey.”
