Owner of Opulent Hair and Beauty salon in West Row speaks out after blaze at building which saw fire crews from Mildenhall, Thetford, Newmarket, Cambridge and Ely attend
The owner of a hair and beauty salon has spoken out following a fire that saw a large number of crews attend.
Firefighters were called at 3.23pm yesterday to a fire, measuring 15 metres by 10 metres, in the first floor and roof of Opulent Hair and Beauty in Beeches Road, West Row.
Appliances from Mildenhall, Newmarket, Thetford, Cambridge and Ely attended, as well as an operational support unit from Haverhill and a command support vehicle from Ixworth.
Three hose-reel jets and a larger covering jet were used to extinguish the fire.
There were no casualties and a Suffolk Fire and Rescue spokesperson said a fire prevention officer will visit the premises today to liaise with the proprietors.
The owner of Opulent Hair and Beauty, Chloe Hollands, said on social media: “As some of you may be aware, the salon caught on fire yesterday afternoon.
“Everyone is safe and that is what is important. We ask all clients who have appointments coming up to please bear with us whilst we make arrangements and deal with this heartbreaking event.
“We hope to update you all later today. Thank you to everyone that was there to help, the firemen for their quick response and the kind messages of support and for understanding.”
Ms Hollands, of Mildenhall, first opened Opulent Hair and Beauty in 2020.
She also runs Chloe’s Coffee and Cake in West Row which lies only a couple of doors away from the salon.
