Merry Mildenhall Christmas fayre set to return with array of entertainment and festive fun

A popular Christmas fayre is set to return to a town centre in Suffolk following its success in recent years.

Merry Mildenhall will provide an array of entertainment to members of the public in the town precinct and Market Place on Thursday from 4.30pm to 7.30pm.

The event was a huge success last year despite bad weather as more than 2000 people flocked to enjoy the festive fun.

The main act this year are the LED Glow Drummers who combine the powerful sound of drumming with stunning visuals and choreography.

The Bunbury players will also provide lots of entertainment with singing, performances and characters interacting with visitors.

Light Gliders will be spinning around the town centre and Kings Church Mildenhall as well as St Mary’s Church will be open.

About 30 stalls will be set up with a range of food, gifts, and more on offer.

Santa with his sleigh will be arriving at about 5.30pm.

Mildenhall mayor Russell Leaman, who will be running Merry Mildenhall as organiser for the fifth time, said: “I am really looking forward to Merry Mildenhall on Thursday.

“It’s the flagship event in the town’s calendar and brings the whole community together at this festive time.

“We have some great entertainment this year with many shops staying open with lots of stalls as well.

“I would like to thank all the people that help deliver this fantastic event.

“Fingers crossed that the weather is a little kinder this year although that didn't dampen the children's excitement last year when Santa arrived.”
